Тимоти Шаламе осенью называли главным фаворитом будущего "Оскара". В прошлом сезоне он выиграл гильдию актеров за роль известного музыканта, получил признание, а в этом году серьезно стал претендовать на все награды мира после релиза ленты "Марти великолепный". Шаламе всем рассказывал, как он долгие годы учился играть в пинг-понг, чтобы убедительно смотреться в роли профессионального игрока. "Марти" удачно прошел в прокате и стал самым успешным проектом A24 евер. Параллельно студия вложила немалые деньги в маркетинг: фильм везде пиарили (все помнят даже про дирижабль), а Тимоти вошел в образ своего персонажа очень глубоко и активно вел себя подобно герою. Шаламе выиграл сначала премию Critics Choice, а затем и "Золотой Глобус" за лучшую мужскую роль в комедии. Казалось бы, "Оскар" ему теперь обеспечен? Но что-то пошло не так.

В конце января вышла скандальная статья, в которой говорилось о настоящих причинах разрыва творческого дуэта братьев Сэфди. Если вкратце, на съемках "Хорошего времени" случился неприятный инцидент: была снята сцена секса с несовершеннолетней девушкой, как потом оказалось. Бенни Сэфди об этом не знал, в отличие от Джошуа Сэфди. В итоге спустя несколько лет они перестали общаться друг с другом и стали снимать отдельно. Проблема в том, что режиссер "Марти великолепного" - как раз Джошуа. Студия А24 поняла, что дело пахнет керосином и отстранила Сэфди от промо-кампании картины. После этого Тимоти Шаламе перестал побеждать: недавно он проиграл на премии BAFTA и SAG. Буквально на днях в блоге wordlofreel.com вышла статья, в которой автор задается вопросом о причинах падения Шаламе в наградном сезоне. Известный аналитик Скотт Файнберг объясняет: многих академиков выбесила агрессивная промо-кампания Шаламе, его самопиар, позерство и, конечно, скандал с Сэфди. Тимоти еще может выиграть "Оскар" даже на фоне такого отношения, но если нет.... 16 марта утром мы узнаем об этом точно.
